Welcome to National Public School
National Public School was established in 2004, affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations. Affiliated to the ICSE board, we are one of the best English medium schools in South Kolkata. We provide sound physical and intellectual infrastructure, an engaging curriculum a vigorous outdoor life, a motivated and skilled faculty that would help the child in learning from all environment.
The school is permanently affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations. Children are prepared for ICSE and ISC Examinations. The school offers Science, Commerce and Computer streams in ISC.
NPS is an English medium co-educational school and it consists of Pre-Primary Section (Pre Nursery) to Senior Section (XII). The school provides an excellent infrastructure for academics, sports, laboratories and other extracurricular activities. Drama, Arts, Community Service, Debating and Music form a significant part of the curriculum.
We have a 100% Pass ratio in the council examination. All our teachers are highly qualified in their subjects with B.Ed. Each of our teachers are trained to give greater focus on individual child.
Our Vision
National public School was established in 2004 by the Lokenath Foundation with an objective to provide quality education and fostering all round development of its students.
The main object of NPS is to enable individuals to know and develop to the fullest their physical, mental, social, moral as well as spiritual potentialities so that they can function as responsible members of the society.
Our Aim
Our aim is to instill the ancient Indian wisdom steeped in modernity by ingraining the concept of eternal system of values, ethics, duties and the concept of ‘VASUDAVA KUTUMBAKAM’ or ‘the universe is one family’ in our ethos.
The school has created an atmosphere in which students find scope within their own cultural milieu to reflect on their life and develop not only in knowledge and skill but also so in their wisdom, which is the fruit of life and its lessons.
Our Founder
National public school is the culmination of the Lokenath Foundation and the dream of our Founders Mr. Sudip Kumar Khanna and Mr. Lalit Mohan Tyagi.

Extra Curricular Activities
Facilities are available for students to learn various forms of art and craft e.g. painting, drawing, batik, embroidery, collage, as well as doll making poster making, etc.
Indian cultural heritage will be imbibed in the students from the earliest stages. Rooms for dance and music coma vocal and instrumental, both Indian and Western will be provided. Students will also have the choice of learning other performing arts like public speaking, debating, dramatics and western dance.
The school we’ll have a well coordinated Orchestra comprising students of all ages, which will provide lively and melodious music during all school functions and will also participate in inter and intra school competitions.
PLAY-FIELD of about 1.5 bighas is provided for Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Badminton, Cricket net and putting area.
Taekwondo and Karate skills under the guidance of expert trainers will be imparted.
Students from class one upwards belong to four Houses. The House system enables the child to become a responsible member of the society through participation in games sports and other curricular activities. The four Houses are:
1. Takshashila House
Takshashila University in instant India is the world’s first university, dated from around 700 BC. It was well known as an institution of higher learning in ancient India. Takshashila became a great centre of learning at least four centuries before Christ, and it continued to attract students from around the old world until the destruction of the city – Taxila in the Punjab province of Palidstan in the 6th century.
2. Nalanda House
Nalanda, the Buddhist monastic centre is what is now Baragaon, Bihar state, East Central India. Often referred to as a University, Nalanda was from the 4th to the 12th century A.D. the most renowned centre of Buddhist learning in India.
3. Aryabhatta House
Aryabhatta, BC 476-550, what is the Hindu mathematician and astronomer. He is one of the first known to have used algebra; his writing includes rules of arithmetic and of plane and spherical trigonometry, and solutions of quadratic equations. Aryabhatta was also the first to hold that the Earth was a sphere and rotated on its axis.
4. Varahamihira House
Varahamihira, also called Varahamira or simply Varaha, was one of the most celebrated scientist in South Asian history, having made substantial contributions to virtually all branches of art and science. Thus, Encyclopedia Britannica notes, “Varahamihira of the Gupta age was a profound scholar of all the science and art, from botany to astronomy and from military science to civil engineering.”
